Communication Minister Bosun Tijani Reacts To Kano Loots Says Slight Setback
Following the news on hoodlums rampages in Kano state wielding different kinds of dangerous weapons in some parts of Kano metropolis attacking shops and offices, looting property and engaging in all kinds of mob actions on Thursday.
The Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani has reacted to the news on hoodlums looting all sorts of items, including office furniture, air conditioners, and even metal signboards slated for launch next week at the NCC Digital Innovation Park, to support technology development while creating job opportunities for the youth.
Reacting to the news as seen on X formerly known as Twitter, the Minister bemoan such act stressed that what happened is a slight setback for the nation.
According to him on X, the Minister expressed “Sad to learn that our Digital Innovation Park in Kano slated for launch next week to support our technical talent accelerator (3MTT) has been set ablaze and looted by protesters. Alongside #3MTT, this building is set to host our buildathon holiday maker programme for secondary school kids starting next week. A slight setback for our journey to deepening our workforce for technology while creating job opportunities for the youth. Millions of Naira down the drain.”
Responding to the Minister’s tweet on X, @Maybek said “When people are hungry, this BS means nothing. How come educated people in the govt don’t know this? Until people can afford food on their table, they are not interested in achieving any personal development. Convert all your digital hubs to govt-subsidized food hubs for now!”
The Minister further responded to @Maybeks “That will never be enough! You must not only feed people but teach them how to fish. For every tech job you create, there’s evidence of 3-5 support staff being added to the economy. As palliatives are being released we must build up our young people to fill the global shortage in technology workforce
@Maybeks “We know the need to give people nets, but the situation right now is about fish. Food insecurity first. Let the president declare a state of emergency on the food sector. Let all ministers drop their portfolio in 24 hrs and work with the Min of Agric to guarantee food security.”
