DataPro Begins Training to Strengthen Proliferation Financing Compliance

DataPro Limited, a compliance and credit-rating agency, has commenced a two-day virtual training programme to strengthen the capacity of financial institutions and businesses to identify, assess and mitigate proliferation-financing risks.

The training, which began on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, focuses on Countering Proliferation Financing (CPF) and compliance with Targeted Financial Sanctions, with participation targeted at banks, fintech companies and Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs).

The programme is designed to strengthen participants’ capacity to detect suspicious transactions, address compliance gaps and meet regulatory requirements amid growing global efforts to combat illicit financial flows.

According to DataPro, the training will address compliance deficiencies identified in recent mutual evaluation reports by the Inter-Governmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA).

The agency said the programme would provide compliance professionals with practical tools for conducting risk assessments, implementing customer due diligence and fulfilling statutory reporting obligations.

Participants are also being equipped with strategies to strengthen internal compliance policies, improve transaction monitoring and identify red flags associated with proliferation financing.

DataPro said the curriculum covers five core areas, including the fundamentals of Countering Proliferation Financing, reviews of internal policies and procedures, institutional risk assessments, advanced customer due diligence, transaction monitoring and regulatory reporting.

The training is expected to help participating organisations align their compliance frameworks with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards while improving their preparedness for regulatory reviews and audits.

The virtual programme runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily and will conclude on Wednesday, October 28.

DataPro said participation costs ₦100,000 per person, excluding Value Added Tax (VAT), with discounted rates available for group registrations.

The agency encouraged organisations to nominate compliance officers and other relevant personnel to strengthen their capacity to identify, assess and mitigate proliferation-financing risks while improving compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
