LIRS Extend Tax Return to April 14

In an effort to enable tax payer complete their filing, the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has pushed back the deadline for individual annual income tax returns from March 31 to April 14, offering taxpayers in the state a two-week window to complete their filings.

LIRS Executive Chairman Ayodele Subair announced the extension, saying the decision was meant to give residents adequate time to submit accurate returns and minimize filing errors. He framed tax compliance as a routine civic duty rather than a burden, urging Lagosians to take the obligation seriously.

One firm policy remains unchanged: all returns must be submitted digitally. The agency has fully discontinued manual filing, directing taxpayers exclusively to its eTax portal at https://etax.lirs.net. Subair described the platform as secure, easy to use, and available around the clock.

Taxpayers are reminded to ensure their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly entered when filing. Those who need help navigating the process can walk into any LIRS office or reach out through the agency’s official channels.
