Nigeria, South Korea Deepen Maritime Ties with Focus on Capacity Building

The Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Nigeria, Mr. Lee Sang-ho, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, at the Agency’s headquarters in Lagos. The high-level meeting served as a strategic dialogue to deepen bilateral relations and identify collaborative opportunities in the maritime sector.

During their discussions, both leaders underscored the critical role of maritime capacity development in driving economic growth and promoting sustainable ocean governance. Mr. Sang-ho reiterated South Korea’s commitment to supporting Nigeria by offering technical expertise, facilitating workforce training, and implementing knowledge-sharing initiatives between both nations.

In response, Dr. Mobereola expressed gratitude for Korea’s ongoing support and emphasized NIMASA’s dedication to international partnerships that align with Nigeria’s vision of becoming a dominant maritime force on the African continent. He noted that cooperation with experienced maritime nations like Korea is essential for achieving long-term sectoral reforms.
