Anambra Partners Meta Push For Technological Advancement For Job Creation
Anambra State government has partnered Meta to enhance technological advancement in the state in order to ensure the state economic prosperity.
This, according to governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, was to ensure that the state is at the forefront of economic prosperity through innovation and infrastructure. Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, is a technology company that builds platforms to connect people, find communities, and grow businesses.
This collaboration, he said, underscores Anambra State’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship even as the State aims to leverage Meta’s cutting-edge technology and expertise to drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve the overall quality of life for its citizens.
At the inaugural Anambra Innovation Week, in Awka, the state capital recently, Soludo, in his assertion, stated that the initiative ‘will ensure Anambra will be the innovation hub of the country.’
In her remark, Meta Africa’s Connectivity and Innovation Policy manager, Ms. Sade Dada expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship programmes of Anambra State, adding that, this will help create a vibrant ecosystem to nurture the next generation of Nigerian innovators and change-makers.
As Anambra State continues to push the boundaries of innovation, this partnership with Meta, according to experts, is a powerful testament to the transformative impact that can be achieved when government, technology, and innovation come together.
The Anambra Innovation Week, a week-long celebration of innovation and technology, provides a unique platform for startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators to showcase their ideas, connect with investors, and access valuable resources and mentorship.
Meanwhile, the acting United States Consul General, JoEllen Gorg has lauded the Innovation Week which is geared towards the technological revolution in the state as youths were trained in ground-breaking skills for entrepreneurship.
In her assertion, the Consulate General affirmed that the Innovation Week which encompasses the digital innovation programmes of Governor Soludo will attract the required skills needed for the growth of the state’s economy considering the pool of people that will be proficient in different technological training and business enterprise.
According to Gorg, the United States has been collaborating with institutions in Africa in research and development (R&D) to attain knowledge in technology, and, interestingly, the Soludo administration has taken the right move in its digital innovation schemes.
She stated that the technology system in the country and Africa is booming and that there is a need for collaboration with Nigeria, and the Soludo government to take its initiatives to enviable heights.
The Anambra Innovation Week provides a unique platform for startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators to showcase their ideas, connect with investors, and access valuable resources and mentorship.
With the digital programme of the state government, it intends to expand the state’s ‘One-Youth-Two-Skill programme to accommodate more youths for empowerment, and the ‘One Million Digital Tribe’ for digital training programme through the Solution Innovation District (SID).
The initial 5,000 graduates of the state’s ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ training programme for empowerment purposes, are now entrepreneurs, and Governor Soludo has launched the second phase for 8,700 young people across various skills, setting aside N2.5 billion to support their start-up capital. Also, the Solution Innovation District (SID) propelled by the present government has trained 20,000 youths in major tech skills and recently graduated 1,500 youths in its ‘Code Anambra Programme’.
