Nigerians Reacts To Presidency Signing Of Old National Anthem Into Law
In what seems like a joke to Nigeria on the much talks on signing into law the Old National Anthem by president Tinubu have come to reality and several reactions have trailed the signing of the National Anthem Bill 2024 into Law by President Bola Tinubu.
The Triple News reports that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio made the announcement on Wednesday at a joint session of the National Assembly marking the Silver Jubilee Of Nigeria’s 4th Republic.

On President Tinubu’s visit, Akpabio said the session’s main purpose is to launch the new national anthem, adding that the President will not be making a speech as he has to launch the Abuja metro line.

The old anthem “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” was replaced with the current one “Arise, O Compatriots in 1978.
The old anthem reads:
Nigeria we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,
Nigerians all, and proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.
Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle honour’d,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.
Reacting to the development, some Nigerians took to the micro-blogging platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their views regarding the old anthem been signed into law.
